Lakeside Family Residence

The plot falls nine metres to the water and floods every decade. We answered with a concrete shell on 40 micro-piles that lifts every living space above the flood line — the 11-metre cantilever over the terrace is the house’s signature and its structural thesis.

Thermal mass, deep overhangs and lake-breeze ventilation keep the house cool without mechanical cooling for most of the year. Rainwater is harvested from the shell roof into a 30,000-litre cistern under the garage.
