River Span Bridge

The brief demanded a crossing that would survive the river at its worst: spring melt, debris impact and a 200-year flood event. Our answer was a single-plane cable-stayed deck on one sculptural pylon, keeping every foundation out of the main navigation channel.

Segments were cast on the north bank and launched across the water in 12-metre lifts. Stay cables were tensioned in pairs under continuous survey control, so the finished deck profile sits within 8 millimetres of the design line.
